We have learned professional diploma subjects in Pyay GTI, and now we were being in various parts of the world by struggling for different ways of living. The main theme of establishing this blog page is to use as a medium for communicating between all of the friends who were being apart.

If you are the one who has related to Pyay GTI, anyhow, anyway, we would like to invite you to participate in this blog.

The distinct thing is that now most of our friends were staying, studying, working in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Australia, America, and England, etc. But we are quite difficult to make contact each other as we were very far.

In the mean time, most of our friends who were still in Myanmar and still trying to go abroad. At this point, if somebody can give a piece of advice to who is really needed, it will be very precious for our friends. So that, we established this page for communicating between our friends.

Employment-related Passes in Singapore

On arrival in Singapore a tourist visa is issued, usually valid for two to four weeks. Some form of official pass is required for a longer stay. It is a serious offence to remain in Singapore without an appropriate pass.

This page covers the types of pass available to anyone working in Singapore and their family.
Employment Pass (EP)
Personalised Employment Pass (PEP)
Short-Term Employment Pass (STEP)
Training Visit Pass (TVP)

If taking up work in Singapore, either an Employment Pass or a Work Permit is required. An Employment Pass is needed for a foreigner with a degree, professional qualification or specialist skills, while a Work Permit is needed for any skilled or unskilled foreign worker.
The Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) handles the issuing of all types of Employment Pass.

Employment Passes (EP)

Eligibility

Foreigners planning to work in Singapore on an Employment Pass must have acceptable qualifications, relevant professional qualifications or specialist skills. Different types of Employment Pass may be issued, depending on the salary of the applicant, but the basic procedure remains the same.

An Employment Pass is tied to the individual and the company they work for. If an Employment Pass holder wants to change jobs, the employer will have to cancel the existing EP and the new employer will have to apply for a new one. The EP must be cancelled if the holder ceases employment in Singapore, or attains Permanent Resident status.

How to Apply

Application is usually made by the employer or company. The process can started before the foreigner's arrival in Singapore, but can only be finalised when the passport is handed in to the authorities and the EP stamped in.

Normally the applicant's employer acts as a local sponsor. If there is no local sponsor, the applicant may provide a Banker's Guarantee on collection of the pass.
Any work-related application may be done via EP Online through the MOM website, or on an Application Form via SingPost (MOM-appointed collecting agent).
There is a small fee for each application, and processing time is two to three weeks.
The documents required for all employment (and training) related applications are:
The appropriate completed Application Form (applicable to manual submission). The form must be signed by both the applicant and an authorised officer from the sponsoring company. It should be endorsed with the company's stamp/seal

A copy of all the applicant's educational documents and past employment testimonials, translated into English. These are not necessary if the applicant has held or applied for an Employment Pass during the last two years and has already passed these documents to MOM
A passport-sized photograph of the applicant taken within the last three months
A copy of the Travel Document page showing the applicant's personal particulars
Further and more specialised documentation may also be required for members of certain professions.

On Approval

An In-Principle Approval letter, valid for six months, will be issued allowing the applicant to work for one month before they collect their Employment Pass.

The In-Principle Approval Letter

Either the Immigration White Card (IMM27) for a new application or the Green Card for renewal

Validity

Employment Passes are usually issued initially for up to two years, and may be renewed for up to three years. The pass has to be renewed before it expires. The government will send a reminder. This is usually straightforward, unless the government considers EP holder or their dependants' behaviour undesirable.

The spouse and children of an EP holder may enter and live in Singapore on Dependant's Passes (DP). Spouses are not allowed to work without a Letter of Consent (see below) but children can attend schools without needing a further student's pass. An Employment Pass holder may also bring in other members of their family on a Long-Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP).
If a person who is currently a Dependant's Pass holder (for example the spouse of an EP) wants an EP, the DP must be cancelled before the EP may be stamped in the passport.

Personalised Employment Pass (PEP)

An Employment Pass (EP) is attached to a specific employer; if the employer changes, a new application must be made otherwise the worker must leave the country. However the PEP is not tied to any employer and will be granted on the strength of an EP holder's individual merits. A PEP holder is able to remain in Singapore for up to six months in between jobs to allow the opportunity to find another placement.

The PEP is valid for five years and is non-renewable; it will only be issued once.
A PEP holder retains the dependant privileges of the original EP type and the minimum annual fixed salary requirement of $30,000 will continue to apply throughout the five-year duration.

Eligibility

Eligible people are:
P1 and P2 pass holders with two years or more work experience
Q1 pass holders with five years work experience
Students as foreign graduates from higher learning in Singapore with at least two years work experience on a P or Q1 pass

Short-Term Employment Pass (STEP)
The Short-Term Employment Pass allows foreigners to work in Singapore on a specific project up to a maximum of one month.
The Pass is a one-time-only, non-renewable permit.

How to Apply

Application to MOM can be made online or in person. The process is as for an EP application although an additional letter from the local firm justifying the need for the application must be provided. The letter must also confirm that no extension of the STEP will be sought.

Training Visit Pass (TVP)

A Training Visit Pass is for foreigners engaged in practical training for jobs of a professional, managerial, executive or specialist nature in Singapore.

Eligibility

As with Employment Passes applicants must fulfil certain criteria as to salary and qualifications. If the applicant is an undergraduate, the training must be part of their degree programme from an acceptable educational institution.
Companies can also bring employees from their foreign offices/subsidiaries to Singapore for training of a professional or executive nature.

How to Apply

The process is as for an EP application. An additional document - a detailed training programme stating the objective, type, location and duration of training - must be provided.

EntrePass (Employment Pass for Entrepreneurs)

The EntrePass is an Employment Pass for foreign entrepreneurs who would like to start a business in Singapore.

Eligibility

Foreign entrepreneurs who intend to set up and be actively engaged in a business in Singapore may apply for an EntrePass. The business must be truly entrepreneurial in nature (that means not a coffee shop, massage parlour, tuition service, among others), and must not have been registered with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) for more than six months.

How to Apply

Initial applications must be accompanied by a comprehensive business plan (not more than ten pages). Subsequent renewals must show evidence of track record and trading and financial status.
Apply to the MOM, using SingPost (a MOM-appointed Collecting Agent) with the following documents:

Completed EntrePass application form, accompanied by a Banker's Guarantee of S$3,000 if there is no local sponsor. If the business has not been registered, the proposed business name and address must be given
A copy of the applicant's past employment testimonials (translated into English)
A copy of the company's most recent Business Profile/Instant Information, if registered with ACRA

Recent passport-size photograph

A copy of the applicant's travel document, showing personal details
There is a small fee for each application, and approval may take up to four weeks.

On Approval

An Approval-in Principle letter will be issued so that the entrepreneur may register the business with ACRA. Once ACRA registration is complete the applicant must send a copy of the Business Profile/Instant Information and Approval-in Principle letter to the Work Pass Division so that they may issue the EntrePass.
The initial Entrepass is valid for up to two years; subsequent renewals will be valid for up to three years.
If the nature of the business changes during the validity of the pass the entrepreneur must inform the Work Pass Division.

Dependant's Pass (DP) and Letter of Consent (LOC)

The Dependant's Pass allows the immediate family of an Employment Pass holder to live in Singapore with the worker. The application for a Dependant's Pass may be submitted at the same time as the Employment Pass application, but Employment Pass applicants who need an Approval-in Principle letter must wait until they have received that letter.
Until the Dependant's Pass is issued the applicant must make sure that they have a valid social visit pass to remain in Singapore.

Eligibility

Most Employment Pass holders may apply for a Dependant's Pass for their spouse and unmarried or legally adopted children under 21 years of age.

The documents needed are:

A completed Form 12 (Dependant's Pass Application Form) for each applicant (if submitted manually). A local sponsor (a well-established Singapore-registered company, normally the employer of the Employment Pass holder) must sign and endorse the form with the company's stamp/seal. A parent must sign for children under 12 years old
A copy of the official Marriage Certificate (where applicable)
A copy of the children's official Birth Certificates showing both the parents' names and the child's name (as necessary)
A copy of the children's official Adoption Order or Document (if appropriate)
A passport-sized photograph of the applicant taken within the last three months. No photograph is required for children below 12 years old
A copy of the Travel Document page showing the applicant's personal particulars
Processing time may be up to three weeks.

On Approval

The following documents must be submitted at the Ministry's Customer Services Centre (at the MOM buiding) when collecting the Dependent's Pass:
Applicant's current travel document (with at least two blank visa pages)
Completed Medical Documents (where applicable)

In-Principle Approval Letter

Either the Disembarkation/Embarkation Card (Green Card) for renewal, or the Immigration White Card (IMM27) for new application.
The Employment Pass must be collected before the Dependant's Pass can be collected.

Validity

Dependant's Passes may be renewed online via EP Online.
The Dependant's Pass must be given up if:
The Employment Pass holder no longer holds a valid Employment Pass
The Employment Pass holder has become a Permanent Resident of Singapore
The Dependant's Pass holder leaves Singapore
A two-week social visit pass will be issued on cancellation.
Letter of Consent – Employment of a Dependant's Pass Holder
If a person holding a Dependant's Pass wishes to work in Singapore, they must obtain a Letter of Consent (LOC). Applications should be made to MOM via EP Online with the usual documentation for a Employment Pass. The Dependant's Pass holder may not start work until they have received the LOC. If the Dependant's Pass is cancelled, then the LOC is also cancelled. The renewal procedure for the LOC is the same as for a Dependant's Pass.
The employer must inform the Work Pass Division in writing if they wish to cancel an LOC.

Long-Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP)

Anyone who holds an Employment Pass may apply for a Long-Term Social Visit Passes for their family members, including:
Parents
Parents-in-law
Step children
Spouse (including common-law spouse)
Handicapped children
Unmarried daughters aged over 21

How to Apply

Submit the following documents:
A completed Form 14 (Long-Term Social Visit Pass Application Form) for each applicant. A local sponsor (a well-established Singapore-registered company, normally the employer of the Employment Pass holder) must sign and endorse the form. For children below 12 years old, the Employment Pass holder is required to sign on their behalf
A copy of the Employment Pass holder's official Birth Certificate showing the parents' and the Employment Pass holder's names (for parents)
A copy of the official Birth Certificate of the Employment Pass holder's spouse, showing the parents' and the spouse's names (for parents-in-law)
A copy of the Employment Pass holder's Statutory Declaration of their relationship with the applicant
A letter from the Employment Pass holder's Embassy confirming the status of common-law marriage in their country (applicable for common-law spouse)
A copy of the Court Order on the child custody, or Letter of No Objection from the other natural parent in bringing the child to Singapore (for a step child)
A copy of the official Birth Certificate of the Employment Pass holder's daughter (applicable for unmarried daughter above the age of 21)
A recent passport-sized photograph of the applicant. No photograph is required for children below 12 years old
A copy of the Travel Document page showing the applicant's personal particulars

A two-week social visit pass will be issued on cancellation.

Work Permits (WP)

A Work Permit is needed for any skilled or unskilled foreigner with a basic monthly salary of not more than S$1,800.

The employer must apply to the Controller of Work Permits (MOM) for a Work Permit (WP) for every relevant foreign worker. A Work Permit is usually valid for two years, subject to the validity of the worker's passport, their Banker's Guarantee, or their period of employment, whichever is shortest. The worker may only work for that employer and in the occupation stated in the Work Permit.

The types of job available to foreign unskilled workers are limited and strictly controlled, and a government levy is payable for each foreign worker. On top of that a S$5,000 Security Bond is required for each worker employed.

Applications and payments are the sole responsibility of the employer who must ensure that they have received an In-Principle Approval before bringing a foreign worker (non-Malaysian) into Singapore. Applications can be made online via the MOM's WPOL (Work Permit Online) service or at any SingPost post office (MOM-appointed Collecting Agent). Online application is a great deal quicker - the WP will be available next day, compared with seven working days for manual applications.

Procedure to apply for a Work Permit for a foreign worker

Apply for In-Principle Approval online via the MOM's WPOL service or manually. Once this is confirmed the employer can then arrange for the worker to enter the country.
The employer must request Issuance of a Work Permit – again online or manually – within 14 days of the worker's arrival in Singapore.
The worker must undergo a medical examination and must be certified fit to work by a registered medical practitioner.
The foreign worker must be registered at the Work Pass Services Centre (WPSC). The worker will be issued with a Notification Letter which they should take within seven days to:

The worker will be photographed and fingerprinted for their Work Permit card.
Collect Work Permit card from WPSC – this can be done by the worker, the employer or an authorised representative.

Renewal and Cancellation of a Work Permit

Work Permits can be renewed electronically - applications for renewal should be made at least 30 days before expiry of the WP.
The employer must cancel the WP on termination of the worker's employment, or on expiry of the worker's WP if they do no wish to renew it. A WP can be cancelled electronically via WPOL.

So you’re thinking of launching your own internet business startup? Or is it a business magazine? Maybe you haven’t decided yet but are certain you want to start your own business. WITH so many fascinating opportunities to choose from each day, how do you decide which ones suit you? Start by asking yourself the following questions to help you judge whether an action is appropriate for you:

Does this earn a living for me? In a material world, everyone has responsibilities that cannot be ignored.

Can I learn from this? Can I grow as a human being by doing this particular piece of work? Will I acquire new skills or insights?

Is it useful? Who is depending on me to do this and why? Sooner or later, any piece of useful work involves working other people. Will this action bring you together with people in a worthwhile way?

Will others benefit, and how? This can be an overriding consideration for many activities, such as social and volunteer work.

Will I ever have a chance to do this again? Some opportunities are a once-in-a-lifetime deal. Is this one of them? Or are you pretending it is because you want to do it so much?

Am I doing this because I'm the right person? Or because no-one else will? What would happen if you did not do it? Are you really the only person for the job, or can this be delegated?

What will I have to put on hold to do this? What is the trade-off? How will it affect my immediate and future life? What sacrifices will I and those around me have to make?
Am I being blackmailed? Are any of your activities the result of "emotional blackmail"? Blackmail is a contract between two people or even two groups. It can be clearly stated or extremely subtle, but it only works when both agree to play. You should not accept emotional blackmail from others, just as you should not try to blackmail them yourself. Often, society provides you with only a indistinct line between good manners and being taken advantage of, between being a fair and upright person and being a sucker. It is up to you to make the line clear and strong, both for yourself and for others.
Can I have fun? Ultimately, if you do not need to do it and do not have to do it, and you cannot enjoy at least some aspect of it, then it is probably not worth doing. Investing your time and energy is like investing your money. You may risk it and lose it. But risk spells the difference between getting what you want and sitting on the sidelines, between your potential and your performance. Whenever you make a proactive decision about which activities deserve your energy, you take the sting out of the most arduous and burdensome ones. It is what you want to be doing, and you are clear about why you are doing them. Then you can approach your tasks as worthy of your complete attention and enthusiasm. What are the chances that people who see an activity as boring, tedious or beneath them, will make a powerful difference? And what are the chances that people with a passionate, positive vision of what they are doing will fail to make a difference? High or low?Invest your time in high-return projects. 20 ways to impress your interviewer

If you are in the market for a new job, make sure you polish up your interview skills

DURING my career, I have had the opportunity to attend job interviews and also conduct many. There are some fundamental things you should do to ensure your job interview is successful:

1 Be preparedMake sure you know where your interview is being held, the scheduled time, name of the interviewer and how to pronounce it correctly.

2 Know the style of interviewAsk whether it will be a one-on-one interview, a panel interview with other people or a group assessment activity. Ask if there will be any testing involved. Knowing the style will help you prepare better for the event.

3 Allow for delaysIf you are taking public transport, allow extra time for delays. If you are driving, allow time to find a parking space, so you do not feel rushed and stressed before the interview.

4 Arrive 5 to 10 minutes earlyIt is never acceptable to be late. The benefit of arriving early for the interview if it is being held in the company's headquarters is that you can check out the office and get a feel of its image and how people are dressed.

5 Dress appropriatelyAdopt a conservative approach. Choose formal colours, such as navy, grey or black. Do not wear too much jewellery and avoid strong perfume or overbearing aftershave.

6 Shake hands when you meetHave a firm handshake and maintain eye contact while you do this. If you do not know how to shake hands properly - learn.

7 SmileLook your interviewers in the eye and they will smile back at you. Keep smiling through the whole interview.

8 Watch your body languageDo not fidget; keep your hands folded in your lap and do not shake your legs.

9 Use the STAR techniqueMost interviewers use a competency-based interview technique. They ask questions to help them gain an understanding of you. STAR means: S: Situation; T: Task; A: Action; R: Result. When the interviewer asks you a question always try to respond with a specific answer, such as: "The situation or task was..", "the action I took was..." or "and the result was...".

10 Take notesLet the interviewer know you will be writing down points as you discuss the role. This will help you remember details and also give you something to do with your hands.

11 Use a nice penDo not use a cheap pen for your job interviews. If you cannot afford a nice one, borrow it from someone. These small details can help you create a good impression.

12 Do your researchReview the details on the Internet, get a copy of an annual company report or ask others what they know about the organisation. This will help you ask some intelligent questions about the business.

13 Know your resumé wellBe confident when talking about each section of your resumé, and focus on your achievements.

14 Keep a spareAlways carry a copy of your resumé with you to hand it to the interviewer should he require it.

15 Avoid coloured or plastic foldersYour resumé should be on white paper and the sheets should be stapled. The interviewer may find plastic folders annoying.

16 Use positive languageUse phrases like "When I am in the role", "When I start the job" and "When I begin working with you" to make it look as if you have already been offered the job.

17 Interview the interviewer tooThis is not just about them checking you out. You need to ask questions and get a feel of the company to determine if you would like to work there.

18 Prepare questionsYou could ask questions like: o When will I be notified I am successful for the job?o When will I start this new job?o How many people will I be working with?o What floor will I be located on?o What is the dress code here?

19 Send a thank-you noteAfter you leave the office, write your interviewer a note to thank him for his time and post it the same day. This will leave a good impression and make an impact on your interviewer.

There are hundreds of stories about ambitious people who quit their jobs to start businesses in their garages, worked 80-hour weeks, sold their companies and wound up rich. This isn't one of them. Instead, this is about the growing number of average people who are spending their leisure hours selling hobbies and services on home computers and the Internet. With full-time salaries stretched thin and the cost of necessities rising, more people are looking for low-risk ways to earn extra income. "The Web is a great place to shop and spend money, but it's pretty great for making money too," says Joanne Pratt, a Dallas-based adviser to the Small Business Administration on at-home commerce. More than half of all small businesses are based at home, according to the SBA. "Computers, Internet access, cell-phone technology and simplified web-page design software have all become cheaper and faster in recent years, making it easier to launch some type of at-home enterprise without sinking a lot of money into it," says Simon Yates, senior analyst at Forrester Research. Most people who run an at-home business use a desktop computer, connect to the Internet and live in a household where the average annual income is $65,000, reports Forrester. To manage the extra cash, many entrepreneurs are using accounting software programs for small businesses, such as Intuit's QuickBooks line, which generated revenue of $654 million last year -- a jump of nearly 100 percent since 2000. "If you're the slightest bit entrepreneurial, you can reach large numbers of consumers instantly over the Internet, while key-word searches at Google let consumers reach you just as quickly," says Pratt. "The Web is an amazing marketplace." How can you turn your PC into a cash machine? It's easier than you think: Auction Stuff on eBayIn New York, where trend-conscious executives and socialites routinely clear out cramped apartment closets to make room for newer looks, Bonnie Levine is considered something of a personal seller. Think Carrie Bradshaw in reverse. When the Manolo Blahniks and Pradas have to go, Levine gets a call to pick them up. At home, Levine, 41, and her partner, Mindy Calo, 34, auction off the shoes, designer clothes and accessories on eBay, taking 50 percent of all sales. "We're both moms and our husbands work full-time," says Levine. "We do this to earn extra money between family chores, not to get rich quick." Levine and Calo devote about 20 hours a week to their e-enterprise, and each pockets about $3,000 a month. The idea for the business came to Calo in 2003 when she auctioned off some of her own clothes. Soon Calo and Levine were doing the same for families and friends nationwide, using the eBay seller name Mindycara. In fact, there are now more than 50,000 "trading assistants" registered with eBay to help people auction off their goods. "Both of us knew high-powered women with great taste, and they told other women, who told their circle of friends," says Levine. Now the pair has 20 regular clients. In addition to sorting through clothes, Levine and Calo snap digital images, write up descriptions, determine market values using andale.com, post the information on eBay, and ship merchandise to winning bidders. To avoid paper clutter, they use channeladvisor.com, a virtual office that stores images, e-mails and documents they don't want to print out or can't afford to lose in a computer crash. Levine and Calo's advice: Focus on satisfying your customers. "If you have a '500' positive feedback rating," says Calo, "you're much more likely to be viewed as reliable and trustworthy, which counts for everything on eBay." Blog for $$$When he's not teaching Internet and constitutional law full-time at the University of Tennessee, Glenn Reynolds, 44, can be found "blogging" on his computer. Reynolds, creator of the conservative instapundit.com, is one of a growing number of bloggers (blog is short for web log) who post commentary, reviews, photos and more on a wide range of topics on websites throughout the day. Imagine a cyberspace soapbox, and you get the idea. Blogging is something of a Seinfeld experience -- enabling anyone with a website to write about nothing and everything on a regular basis and receive feedback from readers. What did you do today? That's a blog. What do you think about today's headlines? That's a blog too. How's your pet chinchilla doing? Another blog. "It's like your own printing press, without having to worry about paper, ink or postage," says Reynolds. Technorati.com, a San Francisco-based real-time search engine that tracks web logs, estimates that 12,000 new blogs are created each day. They range from engadget.com, which features consumer electronics news and reviews, to boingboing.net, with posts on everything from spring-loaded women's shoes to novelty records. To attract and hold a large, well-defined audience that advertisers will want to reach, a blogger needs a strong point of view, an engaging writing style and a gift for smart analysis. Reynolds says his site receives up to 500,000 visits daily and earns income -- $3,000 a month -- through contributions and posted ads. "I put a tip jar on my site in 2002 after a friend suggested it," he says. "I thought it was a dumb idea, but I earned $1,300 in the first few days." Last year, instapundit.com generated so much daily traffic that blogads.com, an Internet ad-sales company, convinced Reynolds to accept ads on his site. Blogads.com takes 20 percent of the fee paid by advertisers. Reynolds devotes two to three hours a day -- between classes and at night -- writing entries and reviewing upward of 200 e-mails. "When your site generates enough buzz, you start getting great links and opinions from others that you can post," says Reynolds. "At this point, my site is almost a group blog with a strong editor." Does Reynolds dream about giving up teaching and blogging full-time? "This is just a hobby, not my life's work," he says. "The only difference between this and my other hobbies, like scuba diving, is that blogging makes a little money." Reynolds's advice: Keep it fresh "so your audience will keep coming back." Forecast the Future Emily Galash's friends are so jealous. The 16-year-old Portland, Oregon, high school sophomore is paid $125 a month to take digital photos of teen culture and send them to Look-Look, a youth-culture marketing and trend-forecasting firm in Hollywood. Galash is one of Look-Look's 35,000 teen trendspotters worldwide who feed their network inside information about the ever-shifting tastes of the lucrative youth market. The demand for hip, sharp-eyed trendspotters is growing as companies and consultancies attempt to learn more about what makes teens buy. Some of Look-Look's corporate clients, such as Virgin Mobile, a cell-phone service provider, use the images on their websites to give pages an authentic teen feel. Which is why Galash's subjects must first agree to be photographed and then sign a release before she can upload their images to look-look.com. Galash was offered a shot as a trendspotter last August, when her cousin gave up the job. Known at Look-Look as a "photojournalist," Galash finds her best subjects at school, in the park, at local malls and near the city's many music clubs. "It's getting more difficult to capture original styles because so many young people work hard to stand out," says Galash. "You have to be able to spot the difference between someone who's copying trends and someone who's truly inventing a new look." Galash's advice: Develop your communication skills and intuitive feel for that next cool thing. But remember that "schoolwork comes first." Sell Your Hobby Stephanie Sorbel is one of only a handful of Kyle, South Dakota, residents who own a computer. She's also one of only a few members of the Oglala Lakota tribe on the Pine Ridge Reservation who sell traditional clothes and crafts on the Internet. Word-of-mouth sales from Sorbel's site (lakotamall.com/lakotadreams) bring in an extra $1,500 a month, which along with her and her husband's full-time salaries goes to support their four children. Sorbel taught herself to use the computer and navigate the Internet after her Marine husband bought her a PC in 1997 to e-mail him while he was stationed in California. When her mother suggested she sell her crafts on the Internet, Sorbel applied for a low-interest loan from the Lakota Fund, which helps businesses develop on the reservation. Then Sorbel was able to hire a website designer and pay a hosting service. "People don't realize how many funds there are that can help you start a website," says Sorbel, who now works as an office manager for the fund. Sorbel made her first online dollar in 1999 when a craft shop commissioned a traditional cradleboard for $800. "They sold it right away and immediately asked me to make a doll and other items," she says. Using traditional 18th-century techniques passed down to her by tribal members, Sorbel decorates clothes by pressing porcupine quills flat and hand-sewing them, using deer or buffalo tendon. Time management is key. "After we eat dinner each night, I work on my projects in the same room where my children are doing their homework," she says. "When they're done, my 12-year-old daughter helps with the beadwork, while the others put hair on the beaded dolls." Sorbel works on several projects simultaneously. The men's powwow dance leggings ($1,500) she's completing will take a couple of months, while the $700 doll of Standing Bear, one of her husband's ancestors, will require weeks. Sorbel's advice: Be sure visitors to your site don't have to hunt to find a phone number or e-mail address for you. Feature up-close images of your products. Most important, she says, "Never over-promise customers, and always be honest about what you can and can't do within their time frame." Troubleshoot PCs After years spent fixing their kids' computers, Donna Gaynor and Maria Luskin decided they could earn extra income doing just that for people in their San Diego neighborhood. So they took classes to become certified through the Computing Technology Industry Association (comptia.com), an international IT trade organization. In 2002, Gaynor and Luskin formed PC Divas, a mini-business that brings in about $3,000 a month. They try to work no more than 20 hours a week -- usually from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. while their teenage children are in high school. "We called ourselves PC Divas so we'd always remember that this is a side venture and that we have families and lives," says Gaynor, laughing. They have about 250 clients, charge $75 an hour, and limit repairs to computers within a 10-minute radius of their homes. A growing part of their business is diagnosing problems remotely -- provided the client has Windows XP. With the client's permission, Gaynor and Luskin use software that lets them see the customer's desktop from their home computer and even control the client's mouse to resolve problems. "We have a client in his 70s who regularly calls to say he can't find a file or that his computer is acting strange," says Luskin. "I connect to his PC while he's sitting in front of it, and I use his cursor to show him what's wrong or where a file is located. It freaks him out a little -- it's like watching a piano play by itself -- but we're on the phone together and he trusts me." Gaynor and Luskin's advice: Review a service contract from a major computer-repair company and use it as a model. Then have a lawyer draw up a tailor-made contract that advises the customer of the risk to his data and limits your responsibility to the agreed-upon repair. It should also specify a time limit to any guarantee of your work. "We make our own schedules; we work only a few hours a day and provide good service," says Gaynor. "We're computer divas."

To increase your odds of making a good first impression, Ann Demarais offers these tips:
Make eye contact at least half to two-thirds of the time (any more than this and you may come on too strong). And pay attention to your body language. Lean toward others when they speak. Nod every now and then.
Smile, even if you aren't in the mood. "We actually encourage our clients to fake it," says Demarais. "It's a gift of social generosity, with a payback." Just going through the motions of showing some teeth may make you -- and others -- feel better, says the research.
Be careful about "oversharing," i.e., disclosing too much personal information about yourself. Keep it light. Keep it positive. No one -- repeat -- no one will be interested in your gallbladder operation.
Try a little flattery. People warm to others who pay them compliments even if they know they're false, studies show. "But it's best when done sincerely," stresses Demarais.
Got a prepared opening line as an icebreaker? Ditch it, or you risk coming across as shallow, aggressive and calculating.
Check your impulse to use the other person's name repeatedly. Once or twice might work, but overplaying the name game can make you seem "salesy" and forced.
Think a neutral, inscrutable style makes you appear thoughtful, deep or cool? Forget it. Aloof behavior like kicking back at the table, crossing your arms or showing zero emotion makes you look bored or arrogant.

Here are some tips to make your online job search more successful. These suggestions come from Daryl Hulme, vice president of human resources for HotJobs.com, and career communications expert Barbara Nixon.
Stay fast -- respond to job postings in a timely manner. Employers are making their hiring decisions a lot faster these days.
Use the application process, as opposed to the interview, as your first step in the door -- and make it count.
Follow online instructions and employer requirements carefully.
Include words on your resume that will enhance your chances of being identified by recruiters conducting online searches. Make sure you spell them correctly; job search programs won't pick up misspelled keywords.
Demonstrate through your resume that there is a candidate-job match. Clearly communicate your skills and qualifications as they relate to the job profile.
Be specific about your career history.
Consider organizational culture fit. If you prefer a structured and predictable environment and the employer needs someone who can operate with flexibility and in an ambiguous environment, the fit might not be there.
Demonstrate professionalism -- err on the formal side. You only have one chance to make a first impression.

Rememberance to Pyay Gti

It was on the very early day of March of 1998 when we arrived to the city of Pyay to attend the very first technical institute of our life. We were fresh for all views and opinion to try to acheive the useful techniques that we could use on the way we passed on our life. The old and antique, quiet and calm environment of Pyay GTI warmly welcomed to us. On the year we attended to GTI, the PYAY GTI is the first class in students marks of entry level to it, because on 1998, the mother INSEIN GTI did not open, and the Thanlyin GTI was also fulled with the delayed 1996-10th standard passed schoolers intake, we, 1997 10th standard passed students were enrolled to PYAY GTI. Actually, the old PYAY GTI is the one of the oldest institute that started with the former columbo technical programme. The equipments installed for leucture are old model, antique but well-wroked as guide to study the actually useful subjects we needed to use in our career ways.

And, PYAY is also on the tropic region, that is too plasent to live. It is in the middle way of the capital Yangon and the last regime capital, Mandalay. Especially, Pyay is also the old ancient city of Bake Tha Noe Kingdom itself, overwhelming the spirits of the last places for Pyu, the strong ethnic group of Myanmar history. Though it is in a little dry climate region, its weather is fair. The air is a little high in humidity. But there are so many dense forests around it, so the air we breath is always fresh.

PYAY GTI is on the high way of PYAY-MANDALAY. The students attending around 1998 to 2000 are mostly from lower Burma, Yangon and a huge amount from the neighbour townships in PYAY district. Although the institute did not support us accomodation, we can stay in the around wards that hire the hostels near to the school. The rental fees are not too high in that time. So, we can affordable to stay around school.

There is also friendly environment between the teachers from school and students. Since we started class, the family member of the school faculty serves us with the food supply. We can eat at their homes by monthly basic. We can eat our meal at food shops near to the school area also.

At the time when our school period started, it was in summer. The weather is hot and when we go in for pratical lecture classes, all the students were sweating a lot. Therefore, students were asking for so many brakes' times in a class interval.

The Phayar Gyi is situated in the quarter most of the GTI Students lived. So many hostels are situated around it. On most holidays, the students are going to up stairs with their books together and read there. When the night came down, the guiterist and vocalists of Pyay GTI were gone to there and sung so many songs. Phayar Gyi's annual ceremony also famous in Pyay.

Pyay Shwe San Daw

The Shwesandaw Pagoda is well known in Pyay. The Pagoda is situated on the eastern bank of Irrawaddy river and Myanmar’s most venerated structure stands here. We have gone and pray for so many times to there. The most important and unforgettable events held at Shwe San Daw is Nyan-Yoe-Pu-Zaw Pwe. Since the midnight of full moon night of Ta Zaung Taing, so many students go to there, mostly with bicycles. The very first and unforgettable of stories in the students life were started arround this pagoda.

တစ္ခ်ိန္တစ္ခါက ျပည္ဂ်ီတီအိုင္မွာ သက္ေမြး၀မ္းေက်ာင္းပညာရပ္ေတြ အတူဆည္းပူးခဲ႕ၾကၿပီး အခုအခါမွာ ေနရာေဒသ အမ်ားအျပား လုပ္ငန္းခြင္ အမ်ိဳးမ်ိဳးမွာ က်င္လည္ရွင္သန္လႈပ္ရွားေနၾကရတဲ႕ သူငယ္ခ်င္းေတြအခ်င္းခ်င္း အဆက္အသြယ္လုပ္ႏိုင္ဖို႕ ၾကားခံ မီဒီယံေလးတစ္ခု တည္ေဆာက္လိုတဲ႕ ရည္ရြယ္ခ်က္နဲ႕ ဒီ ဘေလာ႕ကိုတည္ေထာင္ျခင္းျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

ဘယ္အခ်ိန္၊ ဘယ္ကာလကပဲျဖစ္ျဖစ္ ျပည္ဂ်ီတီအိုင္နဲ႕ တနည္းတဖံု ပတ္သက္ခဲ႕ဖူးတယ္ဆိုရင္ပဲ ဒီဘေလာ႕ေလးေပၚမွာ တစံုတရာ ပါ၀င္ပတ္သက္ဖို႕ ဖိတ္ေခၚပါတယ္။
